Text of VSWare Mail:
Dear Parents & Guardians,
The Junior Cycle, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied Examinations begin next Wednesday, 4th June 2025. Please be aware that the examinations are conducted by the State Examinations Commission (SEC) and they have requested that the following information is shared with you and the students:
  • Students must be at school half an hour early (at 9:00 a.m.) on the first day of exams. This will give them time to find out which room and desk they have been assigned to. They will also have to sign the examinations roll before their first exam begins.
  • Students should arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of each subsequent exam.
  • Students who are more than 30 minutes late will not be allowed to sit the exam.
  • Students must wear the full school uniform during the exams.
  • It is not permitted to leave an exam within the first half hour or the last ten minutes. The school recommends that students stay for the entire exam.
  • No phones or smart watches are allowed in the exam centres. There will be a clock in the exam centres but students are advised to bring a regular watch with them for time management.
  • Regular pencil cases are not permitted. A clear plastic/zip-lock bag must be used. Students are required to bring their own equipment/stationary which must include blue and black pens only, a calculator, colouring pencils...etc.
  • The SEC will provide students with log tables for subjects which require these. Students are not permitted to bring their own log tables into exam centres.
  • The school will provide bi-lingual dictionaries to students who have been granted permission to use them by the SEC.
  • No brands are allowed on bottles (e.g. Coke) -The brand must be removed.
  • Students must be quiet when leaving exams early and on the school premises during the exams.
  • Students must leave the school premises once each exam is finished and then return on time for their next exam.
Please find attached copies of the JC, LC and LCA Examination Timetables. It would be advisable to print the relevant timetable for your household and highlight the exams that your child is sitting. Stick this up on the fridge so everyone is aware of the dates and times.
For LCA students please also be aware of the following important information:
  • LCA 1 students will only sit the Gaeilge Chumarsaideach exam this year which takes place on Thursday, 5th June from 9.30 - 10.30am. These students will sit the rest of their LCA exams at the end of 6th Year. LCA 1 students who have an exemption from Irish do not sit this exam.
  • LCA 2 students will also have an interview for their Graphics and Construction projects with an SEC Examiner. These interviews will take place directly after the written paper on Tuesday, 10th June. Each interview will take aprrox. 5-10mins. Students will be permitted to go home once they have completed their interview.
All the information above will be shared on TEAMs with students and I have already gone through it with them in recent assemblies but if you or the students have any questions or concerns about the exams please email me directly on audreyward@griffeencc.ie or the student can send me a message on TEAMs.
Wishing all our students the very best of luck in their exams,
Audrey Ward
